Maa Veshno Devi Yatra – Journey of a Lifetime


Mata Veshno Devi Yatra is the dream of every Hindu devotee. The holy shrine is one of the most sacred places for Hindus nestled in the mighty Trikuta Mountain located 61 kilometer north of Jammu. It is believed that whoever comes for the blessings of Maa Veshno Devi does never go home empty handed. Mata Veshno Devi is believed to fulfill anything and everything that a person wishes for in life, in a righteous way. Every wish of a true devotee gets fulfilled here. The beautiful shrine has a small cave inside where Maa Veshno has killed the Tantrik Bhairav Nath. To reach this divine cave, devotees have to indulge into a tough climb of 13 kilometers from Katra. People take necessary rest at katra hotels and kerala hotels before and fater the trekking. The city has a wide range of hotels to cater varying needs of travelers. The best time for Veshno Devi Yatra is March to July, as during the rest of the time it can be very cold. The main pilgrimage time is March-April and September-October. However for a true devotee there is no specific time to come and pay their homage to Maa Veshno Devi.

During a Veshno Devi trip, a devotee also visits the Bhumika Temple, Ban Ganga Temple, Charan Paduka Temple, Ardh Kuwari, the Sri Ram Temple, and the Bhairon (Bhairav) Temple.
