Amritsar & Jaipur: North India’s Historical Jewels

The last major stop on the India’s venerable Grand Trunk Road to the side of Wagah Border is Amritsar, the most sacred city of Punjab. Most of us know this city as home to Golden Temple, the most sacred shrine for Sikhs in the world; however spicy papad and rich Mughal history of this city is also a worth mention. Over the centuries, the city has been desecrated and damaged innumerable times by Afghans and Moghuls. Yet each time, Amritsar rebuilt itself with unshakable determination. The city has changed many shapes, but by it’s same. Even today, the dera of Guru Ram Dass is the heart of Amritsar, while matchless Golden temple is its soul.

Among several holy shrines and gurudwara, the sparkling Golden temple is the main and the identity of Amritsar. Situated in between a lake, the temple is artistically designed and well maintained for visitors. Make your prikrama of the Harminder Shahib, enjoy guru Prasad (langar)  and soak up the lesson of brotherhood and humanity which is the greatest gift to the visitors from the temple. Amritsar hotels are available in various classes and categories, and serve each visitor as per their profile. Ranging from luxury hotels to budget friendly inns, accommodations here are for every need and budget.

Another historical city in North India is Jaipur: Sawai Jai Sing’s beloved creation in Indian state of Rajasthan. Today the capital of state and fondly known as the ‘Pink City’, Jaipur enjoys the reputation of being the beautiful and India’s first-planned city. Magnificent forts & palace, beautiful gardens and hill-side scenery and lively cultures in the city make it one of the most visited tourist spots in North India. Jaipur hotels and mysore hotels, especially the heritage hotels always leave a mark on visitor’s mind.
