Thailand Tourism: A snapshot!

Thailand is a vast, diverse and renowned kingdom in Southeast Asia. It is one of the most developing economies in the world, and tourism has long been a major component its economy. Tourism industry here not just provides strength to its economy but also increases its popularity on international platform. The country welcomed over 22 million international visitors in 2012, and this number is sure to grow many folds in future, thanks to its amazing topography and colourful cultures and history.

Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, ranks among the ‘Top City Destinations’ in the world. Due to its location as a crossroads of international air transportation, the city got popular as a tourist destination. Later on, the development of hotel & retail industry gives a push to the tourist influx. During US-Vietnam war, the city was a favourite destination for US soldiers to get relaxed and rejuvenated. They often come to Pattaya and then Bangkok to feel relaxed. At that time, world economy was growing. Growing technology, improving living standard of people and tendency of people to acquire more free time were some other reasons, which lead Thai tourism to be popular on international scale.

Bangkok tour is the primary reason why Asian travellers head on to Thailand. They come here to enjoy its historical essence, cultural extravaganza and cosmopolitan shopping. The European, on te other hand, love to relax and rejuvenate on the southern beaches and Thailand. But Pattaya, Phuket and Bangkok are also the places where they can often be seen. Northen region of Chiang Mai is the favourite place for trekking and adventure-lovers. To ensure a safe and enjoyable travel experience, Thai Government has established a separate tourism police in the major tourist areas.
